"Each (NA) group has but one primary purposeāto carry the message to the addict who still suffers".
Our Primary Purpose Group of Narcotics Anonymous is a Closed NA meeting for addicts or those who think they may have a drug problem (see below*). We meet every thursday at 8 pm at the Asbury United Methodist Fellowship Hall (we are not affiliated with the Church we only rent space) at 4204 Thys Road, Newport Richey, (Pasco County), Florida.
*If you are not an addict or you do not think you have a Drug problem on the last Thursday of Every Month we have an Open Narcotics Anonymous Speaker Meeting, please join us then.
OPP NA Meeting Format:
Our Primary Purpose Group of Narcotis Anonymous is a Closed Step, Tradition, Concept, Speaker Discussion meeting. We read a Step and the corresponding tradition from the NA Basic Text and then the corresponding concept from the 12 concepts of Narcotics Anonymous service. Then a speaker will share there experience, strentgh and hope on that step, tradition and concept. Afterwards we have a ten minute break and then come back for the sharing portion of the meeting. The meeting ends promptly at 9:30 pm.
Our Primary Purpose Group of Narcotis Anonymous has been meeting in New Port Richey Florida since 1994. We believe that any addict seeking recovery from active addiction can loose the obsession to use and find a new way to live. That new way to live, we have found, is with the 12 steps and 12 Traditions of Narcotics Anonymous. It is for this reason that we primarily focus on the steps adn traditions of Narcotics Anonymous in our meeting format.
Additionally, in order to better serve our Group of Narcotics Anonymous and our communitty we made the last Thursday of the month an Open Speaker Meeting, (open to anyone interested in finding out more about Narcotics Anonymous recovery from active addiction) where either a speaker will share their story or one of our home group members celebrate their narcotics anonymous recovery and anniversary.
What is the NA Program?
NA is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. We are recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean. This is a program of complete abstinence from all drugs. There is only one requirement for membership, the desire to stop using. We suggest that you keep an open mind and give yourself a break. Our program is a set of principles written so simply that we can follow them in our daily lives. The most important thing about them is that they work.
There are no strings attached to NA. We are not affiliated with any other organizations. We have no initiation fees or dues, no pledges to sign, no promises to make to anyone. We are not connected with any political, religious, or law enforcement groups, and are under no surveillance at any time. Anyone may join us regardless of age, race, sexual identity, creed, religion, or lack of religion. We are not interested in what or how much you used or who your connections were, what you have done in the past, how much or how little you have, but only in what you want to do about your problem and how we can help. The newcomer is the most important person at any meeting, because we can only keep what we have by giving it away. We have learned from our group experience that those who keep coming to our meetings regularly stay clean.
